Since 1961
Dedication Evangelism was founded in 1961 by Rev. David M. Virkler following five and a half years as pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Montclair, New Jersey. In his resignation message, Dave outlined a two-fold concern: first, of a lagging church and second, of a lost world. He concluded with his convictions regarding future ministry declaring that he would divide his time between gospel broadcasting and a ministry he called Dedication Evangelism.
For many years, the ministry office and studio were in
the Virkler home in Towaco, New Jersey located about
20 miles west of New York City. In 1975, the house next
to Dave's residence was purchased by the ministry as
its headquarters building. The Communications Center
houses the ministry offices and radio studio.
Special Meetings and Presentations
David Virkler speaks in special meetings and presentations in
churches, at Bible conferences and camps, retreats and at special
events. Christians are challenged and encouraged, and the lost
are reached with the Gospel. Special meetings present a variety
of emphases including evangelism, missions, prophetic issues,
current issues, church renewal and Christian living. Since 1961,
Dave has spoken in 24 states and in Canada, the Caribbean,
Bahamas, Chile and Honduras.
Radio Broadcasting
In 1964, a half-hour weekly radio outreach was launched on
shortened to a quarter-hour focusing on current issues and
events in Biblical perspective including world and national
news, prophetic issues, current issues, an annual year in
review and occasional interview guests. The broadcast is
now heard on 60 outlets reaching 14 states and Ontario,
was a daily one-minute news commentary, aired from
1984-1997, but is now in a blog format.
Resource Materials
In the early ‘70s, copies of messages and radio broadcasts expanded the
to encourage and challenge Christians and to use in sharing the Gospel
with others have been distributed across the country and around the world.
Internet
The Internet ministry was begun in 1997. The website offers radio broadcasts, articles and commentaries, information on types of meetings, along with Dave’s full speaking itinerary.
Through over four decades of ministry, our goal has remained unchanged. We are still engaged in Challenging Reapers—stirring the local church to rededication and greater outreach—and Harvesting Souls—reaching the lost through evangelism. We continue to preach and teach the timeless Word of God.
Dedication Evangelism is incorporated as a non-profit religious organization in New Jersey and is recognized by the IRS to receive tax-exempt contributions. We are sustained by the faithful prayer and financial support of God's people.
